AAIS To Host Web Seminar on Personal Lines Mold Filings

The American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS) will hold a Web-based
seminar Wednesday, May 28, concerning new endorsements to allow insurers to
limit or exclude personal lines coverage for losses arising from mold and related
Endorsements limiting coverage for losses arising from fungi (which includes
mold), wet rot, dry, and bacteria are being developed and filed on behalf of
companies that use the AAIS Dwelling Properties, Farm Properties, Farmowners,
Homeowners, Mobile-Homeowners, and Personal and Premises Liability Programs.
Endorsements excluding coverage entirely for such losses are being filed on
an advisory basis for companies that use the AAIS Farm Umbrella and Personal
Participants in the seminar, which is offered free of charge, can see a PowerPoint
presentation over their own computers and hear commentary over their own telephones.
Participants will have an opportunity to pose questions.
The seminar will start at 10 a.m. Central time (11 a.m. Eastern) and feature
two AAIS staff members:
*Susan Luecke, director of personal lines, will discuss the nature and content
of the endorsements and manual supplements AAIS is filing on behalf of its affiliates;
*Robert Prahl, director of education, will address claims handling methods that
can help avoid allegations of bad faith and other problems that can arise from
The seminar content will include detailed information regarding application
of the endorsements, and thus be most relevant to companies that use AAIS personal
lines programs. Property/casualty professionals from non-AAIS companies are
allowed to participate, however.
